Discover Queenstown – New Zealand's 'Adventure Capital'

Queenstown lies in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island and is built around Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu, a long thin Z-shaped lake formed by glacial processes. It boasts spectacular views of nearby mountains such as The Remarkables, Cecil Peak, Walter Peak and just above the town; Ben Lomond and Queenstown Hill.

It is aptly named the 'Adventure Capital' for good reason. Activities include golf, snow skiing, walking and hiking, biking, fishing, bungee jumping, Shotover Jet, wineries and much much more.

The golf courses are spectacular. The Hills and Millbrook (co-hosts of the New Zealand Open) and Jack's Point are all rated in the top 10 courses in New Zealand. Add Arrowtown Golf Club to the list and you'll enjoy a golfing challenge to remember. Each of the courses are unique in their own way and are enhanced by amazing 360 degree views.

Jacks Point.300

Jacks Point's is a breathtaking 7150-yard par 72 championship course. Shaped by glacial processes over millions of years, Jacks Point offered designer John Darby an opportunity to sculpt a golf course through high country landscape.

With the Remarkables mountain range behind and alongside Lake Wakatipu, Jacks Point course traverses through indigenous vegetation and wildlife to the lake edge encountering steep bluffs, whilst working with nature.

The fairways wind among dramatic outcrops of alpine rock and swathes of matagauri scrub, grazing sheep and sweeping lake and alpine vistas with a 360-degree mountainscape including Coronet Peak and the towering Remarkables mountain range. Golfers of any calibre will enjoy this unique golfing experience. Jacks Point Golf is simply breathtaking and is rated as one of NZ top 5 courses.

Millbrook

MILLBROOK Millbrook.300

One of the most scenic golf courses in the world, Millbrook is simply an unforgettable Queenstown golfing experience. With extraordinary photo opportunities at every turn, our championship course offers three fabulous nine hole courses, each named after local prominent Queenstown landmarks - The Remarkables, The Arrow and The Coronet Nine.

Millbrook will once again play joint host to the 2015 BMW New Zealand Open in March 2015.

Millbrook is a five star golf and lifestyle resort and was voted the Best Golf Resort in New Zealand at the 2011 and 2012 and 2013 World Travel Awards and also voted the Best Golf Resort in Australasia at the 2010, 2011 and 2012 World Travel Awards.

The Hills opened in 2007 and is set over250 acres of former deer farm land close to Arrowtown, Central Otago. The property has ten lakes and various ponds and waterways which are fed by The Mill race which runs through the property. Native and exotic trees are a feature of the course. The wetland areas are expansive and planted with varieties of New Zealand flax, toetoes, cabbage trees and wetland grasses and reeds.

A feature of the course is the distinctive art work designed by Mark Hill. His innovative work includes The Weta, a five metre tall sculpture standing on the fairway on the 1st hole. The 6th hole, known as Dragonfly Lake, has dragonfly sculptures nestled in the water hazard approaching the green while Walking Woman, an imposing three metre tall sculpture of a woman, stands on a bridge at the 4th hole. The Hills golf course is 6661 metres and has 86 bunkers strategically placed and is a sheer joy to play with its beautiful mountainous surroundings.

Arrowtown Golf Club

Arrowtown.300   Arrowtown.300jpg

The picturesque Arrowtown Golf Club is set in Central Otago, one of New Zealand's most historic and scenic regions. Historic stone cottage ruins nestle amongst towering trees, a legacy of Arrowtown's pioneers.

This Golf Course is a must when playing golf in Queenstown, surrounded by mountains the 18 hole course has superb views from every fairway. Each hole has its own attraction and the diverse and challenging course attracts players from all over the world.

This is a thinking golfer's course. Positioning rather than length will help you tame this layout. The changing levels in fairways are unique and together with the narrow fairways provides an excellent challenge to golfers of all skill levels with club selection from the tee an important factor. Take time to play golf in this inspiring setting - it really is the hidden gem!
